The top boards are white ash, heat treated with no chemicals. That treatment, not a coating, is what keeps them from rotting.
Oil them with a UV oil if you want to hold the brown, or let them weather to silver-gray. Your maintenance budget never carries a sealing crew.
The post and frame are black powder-coated steel, backed by a 5-year limited warranty on the frame.
