Pick Surface and the bench stands on two steel foot plates. Leave it loose to try a spot, then bolt the plates to your concrete so it can't be dragged off.
You supply the concrete anchors for surface mounting. Assembly fasteners and hardware come with your bench.
Pick Inground and the legs become two posts you set in concrete footings. There are no plates or bolts, so there is nothing for anyone to unbolt.
The surface version weighs 102 lbs. The inground version has no foot plates or cross tube and weighs 66 lbs.
No drawing is published for the inground version, so call us for the post depth before you pour your footings.
The slats are white ash, treated with heat and steam and no chemicals. That process, not a coating, is what makes the wood resist rot, so you have no sealer to reapply.
Leave it alone and the ash weathers to silver-gray. Want to keep the brown? Wipe on a penetrating UV oil when the color starts to fade.
Wood also stays cooler to the touch than dark steel in summer sun, so your visitors can still sit down on a hot afternoon.
Real wood can check as it dries. Each board ships with no crack wider than 1/16 inch, and the powder-coated frame carries a 5-year limited warranty.
The bench runs 70 inches end to end, 23 1/4 inches deep and 32 1/8 inches tall, with a 17 3/4 inch seat. The surface mount feet sit 53 inches apart.
The seat and back are contoured slats, so the back curves to meet you instead of standing straight up.
