The grate rests in notched slots at 4 heights. Your visitors drop it low to sear or raise it to cook slowly, with no tools and nothing to unbolt.
It also flips back, so they can light the charcoal underneath and your crew can clean out ash without lifting the grate off the firebox.
Because the grate can't be removed, it can't leave in someone's trunk, which keeps replacement grates out of your maintenance budget.
An anti-theft locking bolt holds the firebox on its post but lets it turn all the way around, so the cook can swing the smoke away from your picnic table.
The firebox is 20 inches wide inside, 16 inches deep and 10 inches tall, with drain holes so rain doesn't sit in the ash.
It rides on a 2 3/8 inch steel post, 41 inches long, set in concrete. The bottom of the firebox sits 27 inches above grade.
Your installer sizes the footing from the drawing under the Resources tab, and the firebox's sleeve slides over the post and locks on with its bolt.
